About the name
Lorenz is the German Laurence, from Latin Laurentius — a man of Laurentum, the Italian town whose own name comes from the laurel. The laurel wreath meaning that everyone reaches for is therefore real but arrives second-hand, through a place name.
In German it carries a strong scientific echo: the Lorenz attractor, Lorenz curve, and Konrad Lorenz on animal behaviour all belong to different Lorenzes. Few names are so consistently attached to people who measured things.
Two syllables, said LO-rents. The z ending is clean and resists softening. On our vibe map it is Heirloom with a Dark Academia edge.
